PG&E looks to pass $1.4 billion of its costs from wildfires & insurance coverage onto its customers

Northern California utility Pacific Gas and Electric is facing bankruptcy and billions of dollars in liabilities over several wildfires it's blamed for starting.  Now they're trying to pass along some of those costs to their customers, with a request to the California Public Utilities Commission to raise rates by some $1.4 billion.  And Southern California Edison, another utility that's been blamed for starting several wildfires, probably isn't far behind.
