(KNX 1070) -- The woman who was struck and killed by a boat while kayaking in Marina del Rey on Labor Day,  worked for the City of Los Angeles.

According to her LinkedIn page, Nicole Willett, 46, of Venice, was the chief of staff of LA's Department on Disability since 2014 -- a position she had held for nearly four years.

Willett was kayaking Monday afternoon near the marina's south jetty when she was hit by a 50-foot power boat.

At first, the two people on board didn't know what had happened, until people in a nearby fishing boat told them. They were interviewed by investigators but were not cited.
