VIDEO: Suspect Arrested in Street Racing That Left Group Severely Injured in Hit-and-Run

(KNX 1070) - UPDATE: Thirty-eight-year-old Winbon Franklin was arrested near the 1400 block of South Grand Avenue for engaging in a speed contest with specific injuries and unsafe speed on Dec. 10, according to the LAPD Friday afternoon. 

Franklin’s bail is set at $20,000.  

The police was asking for the public's help in identifying a street-racing suspect following a collision in South LA that left a group of people - including two girls - severely hurt on Dec. 9.

The driver is considered a hit-and-run suspect, despite not having been directly involved in the collision.

Police say suspect, in a Mustang, was racing another driver in a Camaro  "at a high rate of speed"  Sunday night, in the area of Hoover Street and Florence Avenue, when the Camaro hit another vehicle.

The Mustang driver took off.

The driver of the vehicle that was not involved in the race, her 9-year-old passengers, and the Camaro driver were all taken to local hospitals with "severe injuries."

The suspect's vehicle is described as a two-door black Mustang with black rims, a black rear wing spoiler and possibly a tan or light-colored interior.

A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered.
