USC Forms Committee to Find New President -- Without Student Input

(KNX 1070) -- USC is about to put on its first presidential search forum. The committee was formed to find a new leader for the university.

It's a chance for the community to weigh in on who should replace Max Nikias, who resigned after a series of scandals involving USC's former medical school dean and the ex-student health center gynecologist, who's facing allegations of sexual misconduct that go back decades.

The search committee is a diverse bunch that includes alumni, developers, professors and philanthropists, but no students.

The editorial board of the campus newspaper, the Daily Trojan, calls the omission "a huge mistake at best and...conscious discrimination at worst."

Associate Managing Editor Tomas Mier contends students are the ones who will be most affected by the decisions of the search committee and should get a say in them.
