Trump Supporters Disagree with U.S. Senators on Changing Policies Separating Migrant Families

(KNX1070) -- Supporters of the Trump administration policy of separating children and parents at the border argue there's a vital national security need.  Matt O'Brien, who served as a counsel in ICE before moving to an immigration think tank, tells KNX separation from their parents is in the children's best interests.

O'Brien insists that children are routinely used by smugglers at the border with malicious intentions.

California's two U.S. Senators are leading the effort to outlaw the Trump administration's policy of separating children from their undocumented immigrant parents when trying to cross the border.

Senator Kamala Harris is one of the sponsors of the Keep Families Together Act, that would ban immigrant family separation; she argues the policy is a human rights violation:

Senator Harris says at least 1,300 children have been separated from their parents at the border since October of last year.
