Tough Defeat for Former LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa

(KNX1070) - It was celebration for Gavin Newsom and John Cox, but bitter defeat for former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa who trailed in a distant third. Many analysts predicted a far better showing, saying he would be backed by large numbers of Latino voters.

But Democratic political consultant Roger Salazar tells KNX that did not happen. He says the demographic will still be vital in November:

Election returns show that Villaraigosa did not even manage to win his home base of Los Angeles County. He was beaten by 10 percentage points by Newsom.
