Sunset Boulevard Re-opens after Stabbing Leaves Man Dead

October 11, 2018 - 7:46 am

(KNX 1070/CNS) -  A man was stabbed to death in Hollywood this morning and police searched for his killer.

Officers were called about 1:15 a.m. to the area near Sunset Boulevard and Sierra Bonita Avenue and located the victim with a stab wound to his back, according to Lt. M. Rippe of the Los Angeles Police Department.

The wounded man died at the scene. His name was withheld, pending family notification. No suspect information was immediately available.

"We're looking for anybody who was out here about 1 o'clock in the morning that saw anything, that could give us information that could help us determine what occurred," LAPD Lt. John Radke told reporters at the scene.

Sunset Boulevard was closed for several hours between Curson Avenue and Gardener Street while detectives conducted an investigation.

Anyone with information on the crime was urged to call (877) LAPD-247.
KNX reporter Margaret Carrero:

Radtke says a blood trail led them to a nearby alley. He says it’s likely the man – who may be homeless – stumbled from the alley out to Sunset Boulevard. The police is scouring the alley for evidence. As of right now, they have no witnesses.

He encourages potential witnesses to call West Bureau Homicide.
