State Lawmakers Working on Last Minute Plan to Prevent Wildfires

(KNX 1070) - State lawmakers are trying to work out a last-minute deal on a plan to prevent wildfires.

The clock is ticking on reaching an agreement in time to put it up for a vote later this week.

One of the sticking points in the talks is whether to help ease the financial burden on investor-owned utilities when their equipment sparks a wildfire.

Lucas Davis, a professor at UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business, talked to KNX reporter Claudia Peschiutta:

Lawmakers have also struggled to reach a compromise on funding for forest management.
