Southern California Rescue Crews Head out to Help with Hurricane Relief

(KNX 1070) - As Hurricane Florence barrels towards the East Coast and three states are given mandatory evacuations,  rescue crews from all over Southern California are heading east and getting ready to save lives when the hurricane slams into Virginia and the Carolinas.

KNX reporter Jon Baird is live in Pacoima where one crew departed early Tuesday morning:

Swift water rescue teams and fire personnel from Los Angeles and Orange counties are preparing to deploy to the Atlantic Coast ahead of Hurricane Florence.

The Los Angeles Fire Department will send 16 members of the FEMA California Task Force One, Urban Search and Rescue Team to Bowling Green, Virginia.

Los Angeles County Fire Department firefighters and FEMA California Task Force Two will deploy a 16-member swift water rescue team to Raleigh, North Carolina.

Members of the Orange County Urban Search and Rescue Task Force will send swift water rescue personnel and equipment to Virginia.
