South LA Reaches $500K Settlement Over Patient-Dumping Claims

(KNX 1070) -- A nursing home in South LA reaches a settlement of close to half a million dollars with the City over patient-dumping allegations.

The settlement comes about three months after Ronald Anderson, who's diabetic and wheelchair-bound, was allegedly kicked out of the Avalon Villa Care Center and left on skid row.

City Attorney Mike Feuer says Avalon, while admitting no wrongdoing, has agreed to pay $450,000 dollars, with the money going to hire and train staff for homeless discharge planning and to provide housing for patients who can't afford it at the time of discharge.

We've reached out to Avalon for comment.
