Search for Armed Burglary Suspect in Malibu Hills Continues

October 09, 2018 - 1:07 pm

(KNX 1070) -- The search for an armed burglary suspect operating in the Malibu Hills area continues as it appears he may have struck again last night at a community center less than a block from the Lost Hills Sheriffs Station.

The break-in at the Calabasas Community Center happened at about 3 am with the man using a large rock to break into the building and then smash open a vending machine looting it of food inside.

Los Angeles Sheriff Captain Eddie Hernandez heads up the Major Crimes Bureau. Hernandez says they have not had a chance to review video of the break-in, so it is not clear if the man was carrying the long gun he was seen with over the last several weeks.

The department has not decided how or when to  release the new surveillance video to the public

Hernandez says there is still nothing that links the suspect to the June killing of Tristan Beaudette in Malibu Creek State Park, but the fact that he still may be armed is of great concern to investigators and they are going to use whatever tools they can to identify him and continue to search the area in an effort to find him.
