Renewed Efforts in Manhunt to Find Millionaire Accused of Killing Wife

September 19, 2018 - 5:34 pm

(KNX 1070) - There is a renewed effort to find a Newport Beach man who disappeared while awaiting trial for the 2012 murder of his wife.

Newport Beach police have announced a $100,000 reward in their effort to track down a man accused of killing his wife six years ago and then jumping bail.

Police say millionaire Peter Chadwick had access to cash and assets and may have left the country. It’s been more than three years since Chadwick vanished while awaiting trial for murder and he could be anywhere in the world.

Newport Beach Police officials say before he disappeared he drained millions out of bank accounts and took out cash advances on credit cards. Newport Beach Police Chief John Lewis says they’ve created a podcast detailing the Chadwick case in hopes it will generate new leads.

Investigators believe Chadwick strangled his wife of 21 years inside their home after a heated argument in October 2012.

Chief John Lewis says they want his picture and story spread far and wide.

KNX reporter Margaret Carrero:

The U.S.  Marshals Service is also helping in the search for the suspect. It has added Chadwick to its 15 Most Wanted fugitive list.
