COSTA MESA (CNS) - Four women accused of stealing a number of high-end purses from a Costa Mesa store remain at large today, and police are hoping the release of surveillance footage will generate tips that result in arrests.

About 7:30 p.m. Sunday, the unidentified women went into the Treasures store in the Mitsuwa shopping center in the 600 block of Paularino Avenue and stole more than 10 expensive purses, then pepper-sprayed an employee who tried to stop them, according to police.

The suspects apparently were in the area hours before, casing the store, Costa Mesa police spokeswoman Roxi Fyad said. They fled in what was believed to be a white compact car, she said.

Police released surveillance video footage of the suspects, which can be viewed at https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2900687649956817&id=297913256900949  in hopes of identifying them.

Anyone with information about the crime was asked to call Detective Monte Peters at (714) 754-5198.
