(KNX 1070) - The state's largest utility is being accused of lying on safety documents about its natural gas pipelines.

PG&E has been accused by the California Public Utilities Commission of falsifying safety documents on natural gas pipelines over a five-year period.

An investigation found that the company did not have enough employees to fulfill requests to find and mark natural gas pipelines.

Supervisors and locators were forced to do the work, and documents were altered from 2012 to 2017.

The utility was convicted of six felony charges for failing to properly maintain a natural gas pipeline that exploded south of San Francisco in 2010, killing eight people.
