Paul Manafort Citing Safety Issues Over Jail Transfer

July 11, 2018 - 3:30 pm

(KNX 1070) -- Paul Manafort is fighting a federal judge's order that he be moved from the jail where he is said to be getting the VIP treatment to one 100 miles closer to where his trial is scheduled to start in two weeks.

The former Trump campaign manager wants to stay in the Northern Neck jail where he has a private living unit, his own bathroom, and shower, his own phone, laptop, and email. But he claims that safety is the reason he doesn't want to be transferred to a jail in Alexandria.

Burbank Democratic Congressman Adam Schiff tells CNN, he's not sure he buys that.

Schiff thinks Manafort's strategy is to do anything he can to secure a pardon from President Trump.
