Parents and Kids Wait Hours for 'Pay Your Age' Day at Build-a-Bear

July 12, 2018 - 4:17 pm

(KNX 1070) -- A lot of parents and kids endured excruciatingly long lines at the Los Cerritos Center Thursday to get their hands on discounted Build-A-Bear stuffed animals.

On average it took Build-a-Bear shoppers in Cerritos 7-hours to make it through the line and into the store.

The lines were due to the first ever "pay your age" day at Build-A-Bear -- meaning a three-year-old could get a stuffed animal for as little as $3 dollars. The kids in line couldn't wait to get their custom bear.

While some parents said it was worth the wait to make their kids happy, others disagreed but said they were going to stick it out.

The crowds were so massive all over the country that the company shut down lines early and said it will reach out to guests who were turned away.
