Outcry for Reforms in How LAPD Handles Homeless

(KNX 1070) -- Calls are growing for big reforms in the way LA police officers deal with homeless people. 

New numbers show that nearly all fines handed out by officers remain unpaid and offenders never appear in court; such as those fines levied for offenses like sleeping on the sidewalk or public drunkenness. 

Police commission member Shane Murphy-Goldsmith: 

LA police Chief Michel Moore has said he wants to move towards a situation where many more problems with homeless people are dealt with by social workers.
