Metrolink Responds to Alleged Racist Remark

June 12, 2018 - 10:51 am

(KNX1070) - Metrolink is looking into a comment made by a security guard on a train in Riverside that some people say was racist. This woman posted a Facebook video, saying she heard the remark about Latinos and complained to a conductor.

KNX reporter Pete Demetriou reports:

She says she complained but says the conductor told her the security guard’s opinion was free speech. She says she replied it was hate speech but was then kicked off the train.

Sherita Coffelt with Metrolink tells KNX she and other officials contacted the woman shortly after the incident to get her side of things and to let her know Metrolink doesn't tolerate what happened. She says the conductor is on leave for at least the rest of this week. Coffelt says the security guard will never work on Metrolink trains or property again.
