(KNX 1070) -- A popular Korean pop band is kicking off its North American tour tonight at Staples Center.

Fans of the boy band "BTS" known as the "BTS Army" have been camping out and lining up outside of Staples Center for days now.

KNX reporter Karen Adams is there live:

Chelsea Briggs, morning host on our sister station, 97.1, AMP radio,  has been following BTS and their rise to stardom here in the U.S.

She tells KNX, their music isn't overly manufactured like most K-Pop groups and they deal with real issues that they feel are important like mental illness.

Briggs says the members of BTS are still pretty humble because they didn't get their start the traditional way.

Tonight's concert is the first of four shows at Staples Center.

The band's latest single "Idol" knocked Taylor Swift off the record books to earn the highest 24-hour music video debut in YouTube history with more than 45 million views on the first day.
