District employees began voting on whether to authorize a strike by support staff, like cafeteria workers, bus drivers and custodians.

LOS ANGELES (KNX1070) - There could be a strike in the LAUSD's future. Thousands of district employees begin voting Monday on whether to authorize a walkout by support staff, like cafeteria workers, bus drivers and custodians.  The workers want more than the 2 percent raise offered and staffing shortages addressed. KNX 1070's John  Baird reports.

Voting is expected to continue through March 23. Union officials said if the workers authorize a strike, a walkout could potentially occur during the current school year. The district says it values the union as a "labor partner" and is making a fiscally responsible offer.
