(KNX1070) - Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg admitted to he crowd at the company's annual developer conference... that the social media giant dropped the ball on Russian election meddling in the 2016 election.

Zuckerberg says Facebook is in the process of finding any "bad actors" when it comes to data privacy. That way they can make sure a mining sweep -- from companies like Cambridge Analytica -- doesn't happen again.

He says 2018 has been an "intense year" so far, but offered no apology for the company's big privacy scandal.

To lighten up the mood a bit, Zuckerberg informed the audience of a couple new features and tools on Facebook. One allows users to view videos together -- called "Watch Party."

He even poked fun at himself, telling developers that if "your friend is testifying before Congress, your other friends can all watch together, and laugh and cry together."

Zuckerberg says Facebook is also launching a portable headset that hopes to transform virtual reality.

And, another opt-in tool: Facebook dating. This feature will let users look for love, and, as Zuckerberg said: "a meaningful, long-term relationships."
