FBI Agent Wounded and Suspect Killed in Officer-Involved Shooting in South LA

(KNX 1070) - One person has been killed in a police shooting in South Los Angeles.

It happened in the parking lot of the Central Inn Motel around 11 a.m. in the area of 40th Street and Central Avenue.

The LAPD’s Meghan Aguilar says during the exchange of gunshots between the man and officers who are part of a joint task force with the FBI, while the suspect was killed and an FBI agent was wounded. The suspect was wanted for a recent crime.

The FBI agent is expected to be okay.

Looking at the aerial footage, all of the police activity appears to be going on outside a motel. There reportedly was a surveillance operation taking place there. FBI personnel are also involved.

LAPD Gangs and Narcotics Division along with an FBI Taskforce were at a motel in the area of 41st Street and Central Avenue looking for a murder suspect, according to the LAPD Twitter. The suspect was located in the motel parking lot and was armed with a firearm. At that time an officer-involved shooting occurred and an agent from the FBI was struck by gunfire.

The FBI agent was transported to a local hospital and is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect died at the scene and a firearm was recovered in the area, the LAPD Tweet said. He is thought to be in his 70s.
