(KNX 1070) - More affordable housing units are coming to an area of Los Angeles where homelessness is at its peak - Skid Row.

The Baltimore Hotel, on South Los Angeles Street in downtown Los Angeles, is now a part of the list of rehabbed properties.

The 204 unit hotel is being refurbished and while 76 tenants will be staying on, 138 units will soon be available for low-income renters and families that are homeless.

Pastor Kelvin Sauls praised the move by HHF and its parent group the Aids Healthcare Foundation saying that unlike the LA City Housing programs.

KNX Pete Demetriou:

In seven months, the Healthy Housing Foundation strategy has purchased four hotels, repurposed 600 rooms for low income or homeless residents. By contrast, the LA City Affordable Housing Initiative, which was passed by voters two years ago, is set to produce its first housing units sometime next year.
