(KNX 1070) -- Deputies are looking for an armed burglar near Malibu Creek State Park where an Irvine father was shot and killed while camping with his daughters in June.

Detectives want to see if there’s a connection.

Considering the burglar was armed with a rifle when he pried open a window and stole food from an office on Mulholland Highway early Sunday, there is a heightened awareness among investigators.

Captain Josh Thai with the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station says, at this point, they have not linked the burglar to the shooting death of Tristan Beaudette or any of the other shootings in the area but it is something they want to find out.

Deputies searched the area near Malibu Creek State Park on Tuesday and Thai says they’re working with state parks to keep an eye out.
