(KNX 1070) - The Los Angeles City Attorney is taking aim against unlicensed marijuana businesses.

The Police Chief and City Attorney hope to send a strong message with charges filed against more than 500 people tied to more than 100 illegal marijuana businesses.

KNX reporter Margaret Carrero:

Nearly two dozen of the locations targeted have been shut down.To date, only 163 cannabis businesses have temporary approval to operate legally.

While he’s dedicated to enforcing the city’s rules and regulations, Los Angeles Police Chief Michel Moore says it’s a shared responsibility that includes those buying weed.

A list of lawful marijuana businesses can be found on the city’s Department of Cannabis Regulation website.

Feuer says he wants to level the playing field for businesses that are operating legally.
