CA DMV Says Wait Times have Improved

September 06, 2018 - 8:36 am

(KNX 1070) - The California DMV says wait times have improved by an average of 30 minutes statewide.

KNX reporter Karen Adams:

The announcement comes after public outcry after waiting hours at some DMV offices and a Legislative hearing last month after which lawmakers gave the agency millions in additional funding.

DMV officials say they've hired additional staff and brought back retired workers to move things along.

Wait times continue to vary across the state from a low of three minutes with an appointment in Napa to 158 minutes for walk-ins in West Covina.

The agency blamed new technology and issuing the Real ID licenses for the problem.
