(KNX 1070) - The man arrested in connection with a string of burglaries in the Calabasas area is expected in court Friday.

Authorities are trying to figure out if he was involved in an unsolved killing at Malibu Creek State Park in June.

His father says Anthony Rauda has been homeless and living in the woods for at least 15 years. Rauda was arrested in connection with some nearby break-ins, but authorities are running tests on his rifle.

They want to know if it was used in the killing of an Orange County man who was shot while camping with his two young daughters.

The 42-year-old rifle-toting parolee was arrested in connection with a series of break-ins in the Malibu and Calabasas areas. Now investigators want to figure if he is somehow connected to a killing there.

The arrest came amid an extensive search one day after an early morning burglary at a Calabasas community center, where someone smashed a vending machine and stole food, sparking concerns the crime was committed by a rifle-toting burglar spotted in the area last week.

They believe he may have committed a string of burglaries in the area and law enforcement is checking to see if he may have had anything to do with the murder of a man, who was camping in there in June with his daughters.

Sheriff Jim McDonnell says Rauda has a criminal history that includes burglaries and weapons violations.
