Buckingham Palace Honors the Queen of Soul with ‘Respect’

August 31, 2018 - 10:45 am

(KNX 1070) -- The Queen of Soul has been honored at London's Buckingham Palace.

The official residence of the Queen Elizabeth became an unlikely setting for a rendition of Franklin's "Respect," which was played Friday by the Welsh Guards Band during the  Changing of the Guards ceremony in honor of the singer.

The soul music started after some tourists were watching the guards, who were wearing their traditional red military jackets, topped by high bearskin hats.

The Army tweeted that it wanted to pay tribute to a "musical icon and inspiration."
