All Clear After Hundreds Forced to Evacuate Kaiser Permanente Facilities in Downey

September 11, 2018 - 5:46 pm

(KNX 1070) - A man is in police custody, accused of bringing a gun, and possibly firing shots inside the Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Downey.

Downey Police Chief Carl Charles says it started around noon, when the man was causing a disturbance inside the hospital.

No one was hurt.

The man was quickly arrested, but the entire facility was evacuated, so officers could do a room-to-room search, making sure there were no more suspects.

The Chief says things went smoothly because the Downey Police Department had recently done active shooter training with the staff of the Kaiser Permanente Hospital.
