African American Actor Sues LA County Sheriff's Dept. for Not Checking Alibi

June 12, 2018 - 4:49 pm

(KNX1070) -- Actor Darris Love, known in part for his role on “The Secret World of Alex Mack,” and “E.R.," says he wants to clear his name,  after being seen in handcuffs at a busy shopping mall.

Love was arrested June 6 by officers searching for burglary suspects in the Glendale, Calif., area. The suspects led police on a car chase that ended with them driving into a parking garage and abandoning their vehicle.

Love, 38, says he was hopping at the Apple store with his girlfriend Ayesha Dumas at the Glendale Galleria. He was in the garage getting his parking ticket validated at around 12:50 p.m when police stopped him.

We've reached out to the L.A. County Sheriffs Department., and they tell us they expect to comment later today.

The actor says he's suing the LA Sheriff's Department for refusing to check his alibi, after deputies ID'd him as a suspect, in a car chase, that ended at the Glendale Galleria.
Love says he was handcuffed and detained, for more than five hours.  It happened in the Galleria parking garage, as cops were looking for suspects, of the same race as Love.  The actor blames sheriff's deputies for NOT checking security video at the Apple store-- where he'd been shopping-- during the car chase.  That video did eventually clear him from suspicion.
