8 Priests in San Diego Named as Alleged Sexual Predators

(KNX 1070) -- Eight priests in San Diego have been named as alleged sexual predators. 

According to the Union-Tribune, the abuse involved children. 

The Catholic Church has recently been rocked by new allegations of sexual abuse. 

KNX spoke with Dr. Marianne Benkert, a La Jolla-based psychiatrist who, with her husband, the late Richard Sipe studied clerical sexual abuse. She says part of the issue at hand is celibacy or lack thereof: 

The announcement in San Diego was reportedly prompted by a recent grand jury report in Pennsylvania that has called into question the church’s moral authority.
