(KNX 1070) - Federal authorities in Los Angeles say 22 people have been arrested on suspicion of smuggling large amounts of cocaine, heroin and meth into the U.S. from Mexico.

Wednesday morning's announcement follows an investigation into drug-trafficking groups that authorities say were working on behalf of the Sinaloa Cartel. About $1.4 million in cash was seized.

Prosecutors seized about 1,000 pounds of drugs in a raid in which 250 officers were involved.  The drugs were reportedly destined for Los Angeles and other cities.

The FBI, DEA, IRS and U.S. Marshals were all involved and it's said to involve drug trafficking from Mexico to the U.S.

The Feds announced the federal indictments charging dozens of people for their alleged roles in Sinaloa-linked drug trafficking groups.
