2 DMV Workers in So-Cal Plead Guilty to Selling Fake IDs, Driver's Licenses

(KNX 1070) - Two DMV workers in Southern California have pled guilty to selling fake IDs and driver's licenses.

One of the DMV employees was a field agent in El Monte who admitted to altering records to ensure applicants passed written, vision and driving tests they either didn’t take or failed.

Another DMV worker, who took a plea deal, got caught up in a sting operation. He tried to sell a Puerto Rican Social Security number and birth certificate to an undercover agent for $3,000 and then instructed the man to see a DMV clerk who was in on the scam.

Authorities believe at least seven bogus California IDs and licenses were sold through the scheme.

Three other people who are believed to have been involved are awaiting trial and another is a fugitive.
