West Hollywood College Prep School Issued Diplomas to Non-Students for a Fee

(KNX 1070) - The investigation into the college admissions bribery scandal uncovered a separate scheme at West Hollywood College Prep School.

The Los Angeles Times says officials there issued diplomas to non-students who paid a fee and took a test.

They were reportedly referred by "for profit" colleges that told their students a high school diploma could help them qualify for federal financial aid.

The prep school says it issued the diplomas in 2013 and 2014 after an outside group said it was proper.

The issue was uncovered during the investigation of the college scam, as the prep school was linked to rigged admissions tests and Rick Singer.
