It's been a whirlwind Season 8 for 'Game of Thrones,' and numerous storylines and plots have been...lagging.

Who will sit on the Iron Throne?

Daniel D'Addario, chief TV critic for Variety, and  Steve Greene, TV editor for IndieWire, both joined KNX In-Depth Friday afternoon, to weigh in on the final season, how much of a blockbuster it became saying the show was the type to unite people around the water cooler. Literally and online.

However, this week a lack of cohesive storyline -- and anger -- was behind an online petition circulating asking 'Game of Thrones' writers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss to remake the final season for GOT fans who have sat through eight years of deaths, court intrigue, dragons and more.

Greene said it's foolish to think that something like an online petition will change anything. He said a television show takes hundreds of thousands of hours to make one episode of the show.

"The highs have been really high. I do think people feel betrayed because I think they felt, in particular, a connection to Daenerys and other characters...Daenerys, her evolution, to become this kind of destructive, thuggish, war criminal happen so quickly," D'Addario said. "Six episodes is maybe too little time to wrap everything up but that's all the time they had and I think they're doing the best they can."

Both folks, including Ken Charles, the program director for KNX 1070 News, discussed the journey of making Dany become a Mad Queen -- and gave their guesses on who will sit on the Iron Throne. Characters like Sansa and Tyrion were tossed around.

Greene said HBO is serving up "Big Little Lies" to make sure subscribers stay with the streaming service now that 'Game of Thrones' will be gone after Sunday.

The petition, named "Remake Game of Thrones Season 8 with competent writers," has more than 800,000 signatures on Change.org, and launched after the previous episode "The Bells."

Numerous fans were upset by how Cersei Lannister and her twin, Jaime, die, why Daenerys Targaryen goes mad so quickly in a one or two episode arc and destroys most of Kings Landing and why the Battle of Winterfell was so dark.

The petition says:

"David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (i.e. the books) to fall back on.

This series deserves a final season that makes sense. "

The show gave us something to talk about with friends and family for eight years.

The final episode of the series airs Sunday night.

We will miss you, "Game of Thrones."
