California Pizza Kitchen The Police and Fire: The Fallen Heroes are holding a statewide fundraiser for the family of fallen Los Angeles County Sheriff's Detective Amber Leist today.

She was hit by a car in January after helping an older woman cross the street.

"To participate, just show this post and 20% of your check will be donated to support the family of Detective Amber Leist," CPK says in its tweet.

The fundraiser is taking place at all California locations of CPK.

According to the LA County Sheriff's Department on Facebook in a January 25 post, "In the late morning of Sunday, January 12, 2020, Amber was sitting in her vehicle, stopped at a traffic light. She saw an elderly pedestrian fall in the crosswalk in front of her vehicle, and immediately got out to assist her. Amber assisted the pedestrian safely across the crosswalk to the other side of the street. As she made her way back to her car, Amber was struck by a vehicle. Although she was transported to a local hospital where staff worked vigorously to keep her with us, she unfortunately succumbed to her injuries later on that evening."

Her service was held Jan. 25th.
