Ringo Starr is giving Beverly Hills a little "peace and love" in the form of an 800-pound polished steel monument of the rock star's hand making a peace sign.

But, as they say, no good deed goes unpunished, and initially, in 2017, the city gave a hard pass to the Beattle's gift, saying it didn't meet the fine art criteria, according to the city’s now-defunct Fine Art Commission. They voted unanimously to reject the knight's gift.

“They said, sorry Sir Ringo, thanks for your proposal, but you’re not an artist, and the work is not art,” sculptor Jeremy Morrelli told the Los Angeles Times.

But as of Thursday, the City Council had a change of heart and gave the thumbs up (or the two fingers up) to the placement of the 8-foot-tall artwork on Santa Monica Boulevard. The sculpture, called "Peace and Love," will be unveiled in the fall.
