(KYW Newsradio) — Police are looking for a hit-and-run driver who struck and killed a Vietnam War veteran in Norristown on Sunday evening.

The family of the victim, 67-year-old Samuel Jackson, is asking the person behind the wheel of the car that hit him to go the cops.

"This is our brother. He did not deserve this," said Patty Jackson, who spoke to CBS 3. "Just to run somebody down and not stop to see if he was OK? Who does that? He's not a dog. He was our brother. He had a family who loved him."

Police say a car came by and hit Jackson as he was putting some things away in his car around 6:30 p.m. Sunday, at Astor and West Oak streets, near Main Street.

Peggy Jackson says the family is stunned, and they can't believe he was killed right before Veterans Day. Jackson served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

"He loved his country. He honored his country," she said.

So far, police haven't released any information about the car. They're looking for any bits of information that may help in this case, and they are urging any witnesses to give them a call.
