ARLINGTON (1080 KRLD) - Six Flags says its parks in Arlington, Texas will reopen later this month. On Wednesday, Governor Greg Abbott announced the next phase of the state's plan to reopen businesses, with amusement parks allowed to open at 50 percent capacity.

Amusement parks in counties with fewer than 1,000 cases of COVID-19 may open immediately; amusement parks in counties with more than 1,000 cases may open June 19.

Tarrant County had 5,623 cases confirmed by the Texas Department of State Health Services through Wednesday.

Six Flags says Hurricane Harbor will open June 18, and Six Flags Over Texas will open June 19 in "preview mode," open only to members and season pass holders through June 21. After that, Six Flags says will "gradually increase attendance levels and open to all guests throughout the month."

“Six Flags Over Texas and Hurricane Harbor are a much-beloved outdoor summer ritual for so many North Texans, and we look forward to welcoming families back to our parks. The safety of our guests and team members remains our number one priority, and the new safety guidelines we have put in place are designed to create a safe environment for everyone,” Six Flags Over Texas and Hurricane Harbor Park President Steve Martindale wrote in a statement. “We greatly appreciate the support of Arlington Mayor Jeff Williams, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, and Governor Abbott throughout this reopening process.”

Six Flags says it worked with epidemiologists to develop a reopening plan that "meets or exceeds federal, state, and local guidelines for sanitization, hygiene, and social distancing protocols."

Six Flags will use an online reservation system on their website to manage attendance. Reservations can be made starting now, and members and season ticket holders will be given priority over people buying single-day or group tickets.
