Reports of Active Shooter at Marine Corps Twentynine Palms Combat Center

The Marine Corps confirmed reports of an active shooter at its combat center in Twentynine Palms, California.

A local ABC news affiliate reported the suspect is now in custody -- the Marine Corps did not confirm this report.

"We are aware of the reports out of Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, California. Initial reporting indicates no injuries. Military police responded to reports of gunshots at approximately 0630 and cordoned off the area. We cannot confirm a suspect in custody at this time. We will provide more information as soon as it becomes available," an emailed statement from Marine Corps spokesperson Capt. Butterfield read.

No additional information was available. 

The Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, also known as Twentynine Palms, is the largest United States Marine Corps base.
