Police are on the hunt for a man who was caught on security video camera trespassing onto the front yard of a Pomona home and then stabbing a family's dog to death.

The suspect came onto the property in the 800 block of East 2nd Street Monday night and started chasing the Yellow Labrador around the front yard.

The man chased the dog down the street, where he cornered her against car, and despite the fact that the dog never threatened him, he stabbed it anyway.

“That broke my heart seeing that, just how people could be so cruel,” an employee who asked not to be identified told CBS Los Angeles

The man was seen wearing a fisherman-style hate, grey tee-shirt, grey shorts, and black socks and sandals.

Police believe the man is a transient. He's described as Latino or Caucasian, 30 to 35-years-old, 5'10" and 130 pounds.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts or identity should call police at 909-620-2085.
