Two of four of the eastbound lanes on Interstate 10 between Beaumont and Cabazon will be shut down from the hours of 10pm and 6am beginning on Sunday.

The closures will continue for five consecutive days as crews excavate segments of roadway, replace panels and pour cement, according to Caltrans, reported NBC Los Angeles.

In addition, crews will be working on the median between Eighth Street in Banning and Main Street in Cabazon during the hours of 7am to 6pm, starting on Monday. No lane or ramp closures are expected.

The closures and construction are part of the I-10 Pavement Rehabilitation Project, which spans nearly 20 miles from Pennsylvania Avenue in Beaumont to the Highway 111 interchange in Palm Springs.

The $210 million project is scheduled to replace guardrails, repave lanes and upgrade on- and off-ramps so they comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The entire project is set to finish at the end of 2022.
