Laguna Beach Man Arrested After Allegedly Beating a Cat to Death on a Police Car

Police in Laguna Beach responded to an incident Sunday morning of a man screaming while standing in the middle of the street. 

The man was spotted by the responding officer holding a cat. The officer commanded the man to put the cat down and come out of the street, but he refused and when a second officer arrived, the man got onto the hood of the patrol car and began hitting the cat on the hood of the car. 

The officer used a Taser on the man, but it did not have an impact. The second officer tased the man another time, and he eventually fell to the ground and was taken into custody. The cat died later in the morning. 

The suspect has been identified as Joey Gabaldon, 52, he was arrested and booked on suspicion of animal cruelty, resisting an officer and resisting arrest. Gabaldon's bail was set at $20,000.
