Jobs as Police Commission Hearing Examiners Wanted - Good Pay, P/T Hours

July 11, 2019 - 8:29 am

The Los Angeles Board of Police Commissioners will be accepting applications for the position of Civilian “Part Time as Needed” Hearing Examiners.

Actually, their organization is seriously looking for a diverse group of people to sit in judgment on LAPD officers and to rule whether or not they have broken department policies. The work is part-time at best, and the pay isn’t bad.

Because voters approved Measure C in 2017, the City will be hiring up to 30 additional Civilian Hearing Examiners to serve either on Boards of Rights or as a single Administrative Hearing Officer. Police Commission Executive director Richard Tefank says this could increase both Civilian Oversight and fairness in the discipline process.

Examiners are chosen randomly to hear cases and paid from $475.00 to $900.00 a day for their work.

Officials think they might have as many as 100 applicants for the 30 slots and hope to have all the hiring done by the end of the year.
