After ongoing conflicts with customers refusing to wear masks, Hugo's Tacos announced they would be closing both of their locations in Studio City and Atwater Village. Now, regulars of the taco spot launched a GoFundMe page to raise money for the workers at both taco shops, and supplement their lost wages.

In a note posted on the website and on Twitter, the restaurant said that staff had been "harassed, called names, and had objects and liquids thrown at them" by customers refusing to wear masks.

According to NBC 4, Nabor Prado, who has been with Hugo's Tacos for more than 30 years, customers were acting like children.

"That particular customer got upset because one of my staff members told him to wear a mask," Prado told NBC 4. "He got a cup of water and throw the water at my employee, which is unsafe and rude...It’s really sad to see grown up people doing childish things like that."

A woman who recently went on an anti-mask tirade seen in a viral video at a newly opened Trader Joe's in North Hollywood has gone to the press to explain herself.
