The family of a 12-year-old boy from Long Beach is trying to raise money so he could have a double lung transplant that could save his life.

Andrew Tucker has Cystic Fibrosis which is a disease that causes a build-up of mucus in the lungs.

It leads to constant infections and difficulty breathing.

His mom, Rosario Gomez, tells KNX they're hoping to raise $50,000 in the next few months to pay for transplant-related expenses.

She says Andrew is optimistic he'll get the transplant soon, and although there have been many challenges, the family is strong and united.

Contributions may be sent to the Children’s Organ Transplant Association, 2501 West COTA Drive, Bloomington, Indiana, 47403.

Checks should be made payable to COTA, with “In Honor of Andrews Journey” written on the memo line. Secure credit card gifts are accepted online at www.COTAforAndrewsJourney.com.
