Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said on CBS's "Face the Nation" that coronavirus "will assume a seasonal nature."

Since the virus is unlikely to be controlled globally, it has the chance of coming back with the next flu season. He also notes that the virus is unlikely to become completely eradicated from the planet this year.

The U.S. could see "the beginning of a resurgence" during next year's flu season. However, he also believes that the country will be in a better place to handle it, he said on CBS

The prospect of a coronavirus resurgence is causing the country to work hard to get its preparedness "better than it was." This includes vaccine development and clinical trials.

States that don't abide by stay-at-home orders are putting themselves at risk moreso than the rest of the country.
