(KNX 1070) -- Friday Mayor Eric Garcetti made a guest appearance on the KNX In-Depth podcast. He addressed how President Donald Trump's tariffs on Mexico will impact Los Angeles' economy and whether the city has enough cybersecurity defenses in place,

Eternal Blue is a cyber attack app developed by the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) according to testimony by former NSA employees and then stolen by hackers. In-Depth hosts Charles Feldman and Mike Simpson asked the mayor whether or not L.A. was at risk. The mayor shocked our hosts by talking about the staggering number of attacks the city's system is targeted by monthly.

"We get over a billion a takes a month per month in the city in LA," Mayor Garcetti says. Garcetti adds that the city has a three-pronged approach to the issue; including prevention, protection, and recovery. For more information, you can go to www.LACyberLab.Org.

Garcetti also talked about President Trump's threat of a 5 percent tariff on imports from Mexico.

Mexico President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said Friday that Mexico won't respond to U.S. Trump's threat, but instead will push for dialogue. Garcetti says simply Trump's threats are "illogical, illegal and expensive."
