Strong Winds Bring High Fire Danger to SoCal

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Strong winds gusting at as much as 50 miles per hour buffeted much of the Southland this morning.

A wind advisory issued by the National Weather Service will be in effect until noon in the San Gabriel Mountains, the Santa Monica Mountains Recreational Area, and the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys.

The NWS said the wind would blow at 20 to 30 miles per hour in the San Gabriels, gusting at 50 mph, although 60-mph gusts are possible.

Winds of 15 to 30 mph accompanied by 45-mph gusts are expected in the Santa Monicas and the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys.

"Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high- profile vehicle," urged the NWS. "Secure outdoor objects."
