Several Vigils Scheduled Today Across SoCal Honoring Memory of George Floyd

There are several vigils scheduled across SoCal Sunday honoring the memory of George Floyd, the black man who died after a white police officer kept his knee on his neck while in police custody.

The incident and death have sparked anger, sadness and protests across the nation in major cities including in Los Angeles.

LA was under a city-wide curfew Saturday night after looting began and the Mayor of LA has also called in the National Guard.

According to a Sunday story from City News Service, there are vigils scheduled today:

Long Beach at 3 p.m. outside the Long Beach Police Department.

Compton at 6:30 p.m. "For The Compton Community" is being organized by the Compton Tenants Union, at the Compton MLK Memorial

Pasadena at 7 p.m. which will be organized by area churches on the westside steps of Pasadena City Hall including "eight minutes of sustained noise to commemorate the eight minutes George Floyd was choked by Minneapolis police."
